Anybody that knows me knows I am a massive fan of R&B music. It was the first music I fell in love with as a child born in the 80s and I grew up on a steady diet of New Edition, Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey, The SOS Band, The Time, Usher and Mary J Blige to name a few. But what all of these musicians have in common besides being on constant rotation throughout my life is they all at some point in their careers were produced by the legendary production duo known as Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.
Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota Jam & Lewis are responsible for some of the greatest hits of the 80s, 90s and 2000s, however they are most known for being the architects behind the career of Pop/R&B superstar Janet Jackson creating classic albums like “Control” and “Rhythm Nation”. In 2016 they did a lecture with Red Bull Music Academy chronicling their careers starting with their meager beginnings in Minneapolis to their time working with Prince and the funk band The Time as well as their award winning venture into producing the music we have all grown to know and love with various artists.
So grab your popcorn and enjoy Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis!
